Pulse sensing device to save lives

We kicked off the series with Elleesha King, a registered nurse and ambulance paramedic, and founder of Pulsatile Innovations, a start-up developing a medical device called Pulse Tile™ to reduce delays to CPR and defibrillation. She joined hosts Caroline Duell and Elizabeth Stares to share her journey of turning her idea into reality and explains how taking part in AUSCEP and meeting like-minded entrepreneurs has paid off in spades. Light-activated gene therapy for eye treatment

Dr Yagiz Aksoyis a Resident Doctor at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and co-founder and Director of EosGene Therapeutics, a start-up developing a pioneering light-activated gene therapy for diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration using proprietary drug delivery technology – removing the need for painful eye injections.

He joined us to explain how taking part in AUSCEP helped him shift from being a clinician researcher to becoming a translational founder, giving him the language and tools to navigate start-up strategy. And it gifted him a community of clinicians trying to solve real problems in different ways. Listen now!

Client involved e-collaboration

Dr Monica Hadges is a Clinical Educator and Mental Health Therapist and founder of Mi Team Mental Health. Monica’s digital health innovation, I-CiE Mi Team, is an app for client involved e-collaboration giving consumers and families easy access to participate in clinical review dialogues about their care.

Monica shared her startup journey which began with the findings of her PhD research, and her innovation is now ready for funding to resource further development. She explains how the regular AUSCEP Pitstop events enabled her to find the time away from her busy practice and build camaraderie with other clinicians ‘seeking solutions’. Listen now!

Clinically proven hygienic products for hospitals

Ibrahim Samaan is a senior physiotherapist and Managing Director of Purifas, an award-winning company developing and manufacturing clinically proven hygienic products for allied healthcare - like its FaceShield - now available in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan and the UK.

The company is now branching out to develop a new innovation - Recyclable Single-use Hospital Bed Linen for hospitals and the aged care sector. Ibrahim shares his company’s journey and how being part of AUSCEP with like-minded innovators was important in nurturing his entrepreneurship and business acumen. Listen now!
