This grant, part of a $3 million investment by the NSW Government, is dedicated to supporting promising early-career researchers in the healthcare sector. The grant program reflects the state's commitment to becoming a global centre of excellence in advanced therapeutics research, with a particular focus on microbiomics and its impact on human health. Craig, among a select group of six early-mid career researchers, contributes to this field with his work on the gut microbiome and faecal microbiota transplantation. This grant not only recognises Craig's dedication but also spotlights the immense potential of early-career clinician innovators to drive progress in healthcare research and improve community health and well-being.

In addition to securing the grant, Dr. Craig Haifer has achieved a second incredible milestone within his field. After two years of tireless efforts, he has successfully enrolled the first patient in a groundbreaking trial that employs capsule Faecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) to address colitis and diarrhoea caused by cancer immunotherapy.

This landmark achievement, accomplished through collaboration with Sam Costello and BiomeBank, represents a significant leap forward in the pursuit of microbial-based therapy, emphasising the team’s unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of medical science.

At the Australian Clinical Entrepreneur Program, we take immense pride in the accomplishments of our participants. Dr. Craig Haifer's recent milestones exemplify the impact that can be made by fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within our healthcare ecosystem.

Today, we applaud Dr. Craig Haifer's two extraordinary achievements: securing the prestigious NSW Health Early-Mid Career Researcher Grant and enrolling the world's first patient in a groundbreaking FMT trial. These accomplishments not only represent the pinnacle of his dedication but also illuminate the tremendous potential of clinician innovators.

As we continue to celebrate these remarkable milestones, we eagerly anticipate the future innovations and successes that will undoubtedly emerge from the Australian Clinical Entrepreneur Program!
